Guide
Refrigeration is one of the best loads a battery can back up: steady, predictable and expensive to lose.
A refrigeration system cycles: the compressor runs, stops, and runs again. Averaged over an hour the draw is modest, which gives a battery long runtime. What matters is that the inverter can handle the compressor's start-up surge, which is why peak rating matters as much as capacity.
A battery also removes carbon monoxide from the picture, so a unit can sit beside the building or inside a loading bay.
Clinic and pharmacy fridges suit the Mini PulseTrek or Base+. Walk-in coolers and small cold rooms suit a 30 kWh trailer. Warehouse-scale cold storage uses Leberi for backup and demand charges together.
Pair backup with temperature monitoring. The battery keeps compressors running; the temperature log proves the stock stayed in range, which matters for vaccines, food safety and insurance.
Questions answered
Often a day or more: a fridge averaging 300 W runs for roughly 40 hours on 15 kWh of usable storage.
Yes, if the inverter's peak rating covers the start-up surge. The Performance model peaks at 20,000 W.
Usually, so the refrigeration circuit changes over automatically when the grid fails.
